Apple’s Car Keys feature appears to be heading to future Mahindra vehicles, according to code changes discovered in the Wallet app backend. The finding suggests that Apple is preparing support for Mahindra, which would allow compatible vehicle owners to use their iPhone or Apple Watch as a digital car key.
Apple Car Keys lets users store a digital version of their vehicle key inside the Wallet app. Once set up, drivers can unlock, lock, and start their vehicle by holding a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch near the car’s NFC reader. The feature removes the need to carry a traditional physical key for everyday use.

Mahindra Could Join a Growing List
Mahindra already supports Samsung Wallet’s Digital Car Key feature on select Galaxy devices, but it has not yet added native support for Apple Car Keys. Any future rollout would require Mahindra to implement the technology in upcoming vehicle models.
Apple introduced Car Keys in 2022, and several major automakers have already adopted the feature. Brands including BMW, Rivian, Kia, and Hyundai currently offer support on compatible vehicles.
If Mahindra adds Apple Car Key support, iPhone and Apple Watch users would gain a more convenient way to access and start their vehicles without relying on a physical key. While there is no official announcement yet, the backend changes indicate that support could be under development for future Mahindra models.
