Two of iOS 27’s Apple Intelligence features, Mail: Suggestions and Messages: Suggestions, work only in English, and Apple’s own iOS feature availability page lists just nine countries where they appear: Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, the UK and the US.
That is a far tighter list than the 16 languages Apple advertises for Apple Intelligence overall, counting Chinese (Simplified) and Chinese (Traditional) separately. It is a reminder that the headline language count describes the platform, not any one feature inside iOS 27, which ships Monday, September 14.

Both features add quick actions based on the content of a message or email, such as adding a calendar event or finding a related photo, per Apple’s iOS 27 page. Neither works outside these nine countries or in a language other than English, regardless of a device’s other Apple Intelligence settings.
One of the two ships later, not Monday
The two features are not on the same schedule. Apple’s page describes Messages: Suggestions as “coming in a future software update,” while Mail: Suggestions carries no such caveat on the same page. That means a reader in one of the nine countries could see Mail: Suggestions on iPhone 18 Pro or any eligible iPhone on September 14 while Messages: Suggestions remains unavailable there for longer, despite sharing the same country and language limits.
A tighter list than the headline number
Apple Intelligence’s marketing pages lead with “16 languages,” a figure repeated throughout Apple’s September 9 announcements, and Siri AI itself is due to add French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish in October on top of English. Mail and Messages Suggestions sit outside that expansion entirely: they are pinned to English and to nine specific countries, with no Apple statement about adding either more languages or more countries. The same gap shows up elsewhere in the launch, since AirPods 5’s hands-free Siri AI and Live Translation features carry their own separate device and region requirements rather than inheriting the platform-wide 16-language figure.

A different English-only list, four countries not nine
Mail and Messages Suggestions are not the only Apple Intelligence-adjacent feature limited to English with its own country list. iOS 27’s accessibility update adds a Voice Control mode that lets a user “describe onscreen controls instead of memorizing labels,” and Apple limits it to English in just four countries: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia. That is a shorter list than the nine countries for Mail and Messages Suggestions, and the two lists do not match: India, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa appear for Suggestions but not for Voice Control, while all four Voice Control countries also appear on the Suggestions list. Apple publishes no single “English-only markets” list that covers every feature; each one carries its own.
What Apple has not said
Apple has not given a date for Messages: Suggestions beyond “a future software update,” has not said whether either feature will reach more countries or languages, and has not explained why these two related features share the same nine-country limit while other Apple Intelligence tools follow the broader 16-language list. Apple has also not said whether the country list is tied to where Siri’s English variants are supported or set independently.
