Apple will soon begin a substantial renovation project at its Oxmoor Center retail location in Louisville, Kentucky. The technology company recently filed local building permits, indicating plans for nearly one million dollars in physical upgrades. While it moved into this specific glass-heavy courtyard layout just a few years ago, in September 2019, the storefront is already slated for noticeable exterior and interior structural improvements.
Construction crews prepare to replace courtyard cladding and interior sections
Recent filings with local planning and design authorities detail the specific changes coming to the commercial space. The primary focus of the upcoming construction involves replacing the existing exterior cladding around the outdoor courtyard area. The building permits also outline planned cosmetic and structural upgrades for a specific 659-square-foot section inside the building itself.
The estimated construction cost currently sits around $800,000, pushing the total project value near the one-million-dollar mark once secondary expenses are calculated. A Montreal-based commercial building firm named Sajo Construction will handle the actual manual labor and material installation.
This particular contractor has maintained a steady, long-term working relationship with the hardware maker, completing various retail buildouts and renovations across multiple regions over the past twenty years.
The Oxmoor Center shop currently spans more than 12,000 square feet, giving it a massive physical footprint within the shopping mall. This is actually the second distinct storefront the brand has occupied inside this specific mall. Apple has not yet released an official public timeline regarding exactly when the heavy construction will begin.
It remains unclear if the location will need to temporarily close its doors to daily shoppers during the most intensive phases of the remodeling process, or if the work will simply happen overnight.
