Apple Preparing iMac Refresh With New Colors in 2026

Apple plans to refresh the iMac lineup in 2026 with a new selection of colors, and the change will likely mark the first real update to the desktop’s color options in several years. The current iMac already stands out for its bright design, yet Apple appears ready to adjust the palette again as it prepares the next generation of the device.

The colorful design became a major part of the iMac identity when Apple redesigned the machine in 2021. That model introduced a distinctive two tone look where the back of the computer shows a bold and saturated color while the front chin under the display uses a softer pastel version of the same shade. Apple kept the display bezel white across all versions to reduce visual distraction during daily use.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shared the latest information in his Power On newsletter and said the next iMac will arrive with a refreshed color palette.

“Apple planning to launch iMac refresh in new colors later this year.”

Apple originally released the M1 iMac in seven colors including blue, green, pink, yellow, orange, purple, and silver. Apple kept the same color lineup when it introduced the M3 iMac in 2023, though the company slightly adjusted the tones in 2024 to make them more vibrant and saturated.

Apple still plans several Mac updates before the next iMac appears. Reports indicate the company will release updated Mac Studio models around the middle of 2026, and Apple will follow that launch with the refreshed iMac lineup later in the year. The upcoming update focuses on new colors rather than a major design change, though the brighter palette should give the desktop a fresh look.
