Apple Releases iOS 27 Public Beta 5 for iPhone Users

Apple has released the fifth public beta of iOS 27 for iPhone users enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Program. The latest release carries build number 24A5424a, the same build Apple issued as iOS 27 developer beta 7, and arrives as testing moves closer to the final September release. The update mainly focuses on bug fixes, stability, and performance rather than major new features.

If your iPhone is already enrolled in the public beta program, follow these steps:

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Tap General.
3. Select Software Update.
4. Tap Beta Updates.
5. Make sure iOS 27 Public Beta is selected.
6. Return to the Software Update page.
7. Tap Update Now when iOS 27 public beta 5 appears.

Users who have not joined the beta program first need to register their Apple Account with the Apple Beta Software Program, then select iOS 27 Public Beta under Beta Updates. Backing up important data before installing beta software is also recommended because bugs and app compatibility problems can still occur.

All the changes in iOS 27 public beta 5

Apple has not introduced any major new feature with public beta 5. The latest build continues polishing features introduced throughout earlier iOS 27 betas, with stability and bug fixes becoming the main focus before launch.

Some of the changes users will find across the current iOS 27 beta include:

• Siri AI: iOS 27 introduces a more conversational Siri with broader world knowledge, personal context, onscreen awareness, deeper app actions, and a dedicated Siri app for accessing previous conversations.
• Siri voice customization: Compatible devices offer controls for adjusting Siri’s pace and expressivity, with support expanded across American and British voice options during the beta cycle.
• Write with Siri: A dedicated Write with Siri button appears above the keyboard in apps such as Notes, Mail, and Messages, making Siri’s writing tools easier to access.
• Liquid Glass improvements: Apple has continued adjusting transparency and visual details throughout iOS 27, including a transparency control and refinements to system elements and app icons.
• Updated app icons: Safari, Siri, Settings, Remote, App Store, and Preview have received updated Liquid Glass icons, with some getting larger visual changes than others.
• Faster performance: Apple has worked on quicker app launches, faster AirDrop transfers, improved Photos loading, faster keyboard response, and smoother switching between Wi-Fi and cellular connections.
• Photos improvements: iOS 27 adds features including keywords, star ratings, customizable slideshows, and a Zoom Photos to Fill setting for images that closely match the iPhone display ratio.
• Mail Smart Replies: Users can enable a Personalize Smart Replies option from the Mail settings, giving the system more control over AI-generated reply suggestions.
• Battery information: The Battery section can identify when poor cellular reception is contributing to higher battery consumption.
• Apple TV downloads: The TV app can automatically download upcoming episodes as users progress through a show and remove completed episodes afterward.
• AirPods controls: Control Center includes updated AirPods controls and additional options for Adaptive mode.
• Camera improvements: Supported iPhones include additional ProRes Log controls, including Log 2, while iOS 27 also introduces broader Camera and Visual Intelligence improvements.
• Notification animation: A newer notification animation introduced during beta 6 changes how notifications transition into Notification Center.
• Bug fixes: Apple fixed issues affecting pinned Messages and has continued addressing smaller interface and system problems as the beta cycle progresses.

With the fifth public beta now available, Apple appears to be concentrating on reliability and final refinements ahead of the wider iOS 27 release expected in September.
