It has been three weeks since Apple released its newest non-folding smartphones, and the early sales numbers are finally coming in. The iPhone 18 Pro and its bigger sibling, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, are definitely selling well, but the overall global picture is a bit of a mixed bag. Demand is heavily split depending on which part of the world you choose to look at right now.
Strong sales in China balance out drops in other regions
A new report by Counterpoint Research shows that the new Pro models have managed to beat the initial sales of last year’s 17 Pro lineup by about 3.1 percent globally. While that is not a massive jump, it is still decent growth for the brand.
This small increase is mostly thanks to buyers in China. The new phones saw a massive 29 percent jump in sales during their first three weeks in the Chinese market. On the flip side, sales in Japan took a serious hit, dropping by 27 percent compared to last year. Meanwhile, the numbers in the United States stayed almost entirely flat.

Higher retail prices keep things steady for the tech giant
The company decided to raise the price tags on these new models, which seems to have protected its profits even with flat sales in places like the US. It is also worth noting that the brand has not released a standard iPhone 18 yet, which leaves the Pro models as the only conventional upgrades available right now.
At the same time, the highly talked about iPhone 18 Duo is pulling a lot of attention away from the traditional lineup. It is still hard to tell if the new foldable option will end up stealing more buyers from the Pro models as the year goes on, but the tech giant is likely happy to see at least some early growth across the board.
