Apple has officially released iPadOS 26.5 for iPad users, bringing a mix of new features, wallpaper customization options, security improvements, and app changes. While this is not a major redesign update, it adds several useful improvements ahead of WWDC 2026 next month.
One of the biggest highlights in iPadOS 26.5 is the new Pride Luminance wallpaper collection. Apple has also expanded features in Messages, Maps, App Store subscriptions, and accessories support with this release.

All the changes in iPadOS 26.5
iPadOS 26.5 introduces support for end-to-end encrypted RCS messaging in the Messages app for supported carriers. This improves privacy when messaging Android users through RCS. Apple says the rollout will expand gradually over time.
The update also adds the new Pride Luminance wallpaper collection for iPad. Unlike previous yearly wallpapers, this version includes multiple customizable variants and dynamic color effects. Users can choose from more than 11 preset styles or create their own custom combinations.
Apple Maps now includes Suggested Places recommendations based on trending nearby locations and your recent searches. The feature appears directly inside the search interface to make discovery faster.
Other changes included in iPadOS 26.5:
- New monthly subscription plans with 12-month commitments in the App Store
- Improvements to the Reminders app
- Automatic Bluetooth pairing for Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad after USB-C connection
- Security fixes and stability improvements
- EU-specific support for expanded third-party accessory integrations
- Preparation for future marketplace and sideloading changes in certain regions
Apple is also preparing to introduce iPadOS 27 next month during WWDC 2026, with the first developer beta expected shortly after the keynote announcement.
