Discover all the new watchOS 27 features, including Siri AI, smarter fitness tracking, new gestures, battery tools, and Find My.

Apple did not spend much time talking about watchOS 27 during WWDC 2026, but the upcoming software update still brings several meaningful improvements to the Apple Watch. From Siri AI support and smarter fitness tracking to new gestures and battery-saving tools, watchOS 27 introduces changes that make the Apple Watch more useful throughout the day.

Siri AI Finally Comes to Apple Watch

The biggest addition in watchOS 27 is the arrival of Siri AI on Apple Watch. Apple is bringing the redesigned Siri experience to the watch, including a dedicated Siri app that syncs across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro.

Siri AI will support personal context, in-app actions, broader knowledge, and chatbot-style interactions. Apple says the feature will arrive in English later this year.

Dynamic App Grid and Smarter Navigation

watchOS 27 changes what happens when you press the Digital Crown. Instead of opening the full app grid immediately, Apple Watch now shows a dynamic app grid featuring six Siri-suggested apps.

The recommendations depend on your recent activity and most-used apps, helping you reach important features faster without scrolling through the entire app list.

Better Workouts and Health Tracking

Apple continues to improve fitness features with several updates:

  • Workout Buddy now works without a nearby iPhone, making it more useful during outdoor workouts.
  • Support expands beyond English and now includes Spanish.
  • Workout Buddy provides more detailed insights for pace, distance, and workout duration.
  • Cycle Tracking gains perimenopause and menopause support with educational resources and notifications.
  • Improved motion tracking delivers more accurate treadmill run and walk distance measurements.
  • Step counts now stay synchronized between the Fitness and Health apps.

New Gesture Controls

watchOS 27 introduces a new tap gesture that works alongside Double Tap.

Users can interact with Smart Stack widgets using finger gestures, allowing them to start workouts, open apps, check heart rate, or control media playback without touching the display.

Find My and Smart Stack Get Smarter

Apple has merged the separate People, Items, and Devices apps into a single Find My app on Apple Watch.

The update also adds Precision Finding support for compatible iPhones, AirTags, and AirPods.

Meanwhile, Smart Stack gains more intelligent suggestions, including parked car locations, birthday reminders, pinned messages, transit cards, IDs, and Siri shortcuts.

Battery Life Improvements and More

watchOS 27 introduces proactive battery-saving recommendations that disable unused features when necessary. Users can keep those features enabled if they prefer.

Additional improvements include:

  • Faster music playback
  • Improved Wi-Fi connectivity
  • Faster app extension launches
  • More efficient water detection
  • Guest key support
  • Redesigned Apple Watch app settings
  • Wallet card balances on Apple Watch
  • Custom Wallet cards from iOS 27
  • Child Safety feature expansion
  • Call Context support for relevant information during calls

watchOS 27 is currently available as a developer beta, while Apple plans to release a public beta in July before the full rollout arrives later this fall.
