Apple has released a new round of beta firmware updates for supported AirPods models, and this update marks the first time that AirPods Max 2 has joined the beta firmware program. The release arrives shortly after iOS 27 beta 2 and macOS 27 beta 2 became available, giving developers early access to upcoming AirPods features and improvements.
The latest firmware version is 9.0.304 (build 9A5304b), and Apple has rolled it out for AirPods Max 2, AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C, AirPods 4, and AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation.
Apple previously confirmed that AirPods Max 2 would gain support for beta firmware updates, and the company has now delivered on that promise with the first developer beta release for the headphones.
Supported AirPods Models
The new firmware beta is available for:
- AirPods Max 2
- AirPods Pro 3
- AirPods Pro 2
- AirPods Pro 2 (USB-C)
- AirPods 4
- AirPods 4 (ANC)
All supported models received the same firmware version: 9.0.304 (9A5304b).
Apple has also announced upcoming AirPods features such as Custom EQ and Apple GymKit syncing, which are expected to arrive through future software updates.
