Apple has released a new public beta firmware for AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, and AirPods 4 with build number 8B5034f. The update now reaches public testers after developers received it earlier. The timing aligns with the ongoing iOS 26.4 beta testing, so the firmware likely prepares support for upcoming system features.
The update installs through the AirPods settings interface when connected to an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Once enabled, the firmware downloads automatically in the background without manual triggering.
According to Apple, users must first opt in to beta updates from the Settings app before the firmware becomes available.
How to install the beta firmware
- Connect AirPods to your iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings and tap your AirPods section
- Enable Beta Updates
- Keep AirPods charging near the device
- Wait for the automatic background installation
Current public builds differ across models, but the beta unifies testing for future features.
