Apple Rolls Out iPadOS 26.4 Beta 4 for Developers

iPadOS 26.4 Beta 1 Now Available for Developers (1)

Apple has released the fourth developer beta of iPadOS 26.4, giving registered developers a fresh build to test before the update moves closer to a wider rollout. Apple listed the new seed on March 9, 2026, and the build number for iPadOS 26.4 beta 4 is 23E5234a.

This release does not look like a major feature drop for iPad users. At this stage in the beta cycle, Apple usually shifts focus toward stability, performance, and fixing bugs that developers report in earlier builds. That seems to be the case here as well, especially since Apple has not publicly called out any big new user-facing additions tied specifically to beta 4.

Even so, iPadOS 26.4 remains an important update for developers because Apple has already confirmed broader platform changes in the 26.4 cycle. One of the bigger ones is an update to the Foundation Models framework, which Apple says improves instruction-following and tool-calling behavior. That matters for apps testing Apple Intelligence-related features on supported devices.

How to update

If you are a registered developer, you can install iPadOS 26.4 beta 4 from the Settings app on your iPad.

  • Open Settings
  • Tap General
  • Tap Software Update
  • Choose the Developer Beta option if it is available on your Apple Account
  • Download and install iPadOS 26.4 beta 4

Apple says free registered developers can access beta operating system releases after signing in with an Apple Account and accepting the Apple Developer Agreement.

Changes in iPadOS 26.4 beta 4

Right now, beta 4 appears to be more about refinement than flashy additions. Apple’s public developer-facing updates for the 26.4 cycle point to under-the-hood work, especially around the Foundation Models framework, rather than a long list of brand-new iPad features in this specific seed.

That means developers should use this build to check app compatibility, test performance, and look for smaller interface tweaks or bug fixes that may not be heavily documented in Apple’s public release listings. As always with late beta builds, the main goal is making sure apps and features behave properly before the final release arrives.

Apple is clearly moving the 26.4 beta cycle forward at a steady pace, and this latest seed keeps that process going for iPad developers. If more visible changes show up in testing, this build could still reveal a few surprises over the next day or two. Let us know in the comments.
