Apple Will Release The iPhone Air 2 Even If Initial Sales Tank

iPhone AIR thin

Apple is reportedly sticking to its guns when it comes to the highly rumored ultra-thin smartphone lineup. According to Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo, the company plans to release an iPhone Air 2 next year, regardless of how the first version actually performs at the cash register.

It appears the tech giant is ready to push this new slim design forward, even if buyers completely ignore it during the initial launch phase.

Apple is committing to the thin design despite low consumer demand

According to the source, Apple is heavily invested in the Air concept. The company usually drops phone models that fail to meet sales expectations, just like it did with the iPhone Mini a few years ago. However, the strategy for this new ultra-thin model seems entirely different.

The rumor states that Apple will push through the financial pain if the first iPhone Air struggles to find an audience. It views the slim form factor as the future of its mobile lineup.

Instead of abandoning the project after one bad year, it will “grit its teeth” and release a second-generation device to give the concept more time to catch on with everyday shoppers.

Saying goodbye to the standard plus phone model for good

This stubborn commitment to the Air lineup means bad news for fans of larger, standard phones. The same Weibo source claims Apple is pouring cold water over any plans for an iPhone 18 Plus. The Plus model has always sat in an awkward spot between the base phone and the premium Pro versions.

By shifting all its focus toward making phones as thin as possible, it is officially leaving the bulky Plus design behind. The company clearly believes a lighter and thinner device will eventually win over consumers who want a big screen without the extra weight.

For now, the hardware community just has to wait and see if this expensive gamble actually pays off in the long run.
