Apple’s Foldable iPhone Ultra Will Likely Support MagSafe Charging

Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone Ultra will likely support MagSafe charging, despite earlier dummy models creating some doubt about whether Apple could fit the charging system inside its extremely thin design.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said during an interview with Tom’s Guide that all the information he has heard points to MagSafe support. He added that Apple already managed to include MagSafe in the thin iPhone Air, so he sees little reason for the company to remove it from the foldable model.

Earlier iPhone Ultra dummy units did not show a MagSafe ring, while leaked cases designed for the phone included one. The difference raised questions because the foldable iPhone is expected to measure around 4.5mm when unfolded, leaving Apple with limited internal space.

iPhone Ultra specs and launch details

The iPhone Ultra is expected to feature a 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner screen, along with a wide passport-style design. Other rumored specifications include the A20 Pro chip, Apple’s latest modem, Wide and Ultra Wide cameras, Touch ID, and a durable hinge with a small visible crease.

Apple is expected to announce the foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models during its September 9 event. Gurman expects the phone to launch alongside the Pro models or within a few weeks of them, rather than facing a major delay.
