Facebook and Instagram are experiencing a major outage that has affected users across multiple countries, leaving many people unable to access their accounts or use key features on Friday morning. The disruption began around 9:30 a.m. ET and quickly triggered a surge of reports from frustrated users trying to log back into the platforms.
According to reports shared by users on Reddit and other social media platforms, Facebook is logging people out of their accounts and displaying error messages when they attempt to sign back in. Some users on iPhone have also reported seeing messages that incorrectly suggest there is a problem with their internet connection.
Instagram is facing similar issues, with many users receiving a generic error message that says the service is working to fix the problem as soon as possible. The outage has also impacted Facebook Messenger, making it difficult for users to send and receive messages.
While Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger continue to face problems, other Meta services appear to be operating normally. Threads and WhatsApp remain available for most users.
Meta has not yet shared an official explanation for the outage or provided a timeline for when services will return to normal.
