What Apple’s own wording says
The most complete version of the claim sits in the iPhone 18 Pro Product Environmental Report, which states: “The packaging is 100 percent fiber-based and uses only recycled or responsibly sourced fibers.” That sentence carries a second clause, about where the fibers came from, that does not appear in the shorter phrasing Apple uses elsewhere.

Apple Watch Series 12 and iPhone Duo each get a shorter version. Apple’s press material for both simply states “100 percent fiber-based packaging,” alongside the recycled-material and manufacturing-electricity figures for each product, without the sourcing clause the iPhone document adds.

Apple Watch Ultra 4‘s press release states a 45 percent overall recycled-material figure and a 100 percent recycled titanium case, but the fiber-packaging sentence used for Series 12 does not appear alongside them. AirPods 5‘s materials state “40 percent recycled material by weight,” and Apple has published a Product Environmental Report for AirPods 5, but the packaging sentence itself did not turn up in the pages we checked for this launch.
Why one sentence is not the whole picture
A missing sentence is not proof of a missing practice. Apple Watch Ultra 4 and AirPods 5 could ship in fiber-based boxes without Apple having written that specific claim into the documents this article draws from. What can be stated plainly is narrower: of the six new products, four carry Apple’s own words to that effect, and two do not, in the material available before launch.
