iOS 27 Fixes Failed Texts, Stuck Photos, and Syncing Issues in Messages

iOS 27 brings several bug fixes and performance improvements, but the Messages app gets some of the most useful changes for everyday iPhone users, especially for people who often send photos, videos, and texts while switching between apps.

Apple says iOS 27 improves how Messages handles failed texts, media uploads, and device syncing, which should make conversations feel more reliable across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Changes in Messages with iOS 27

  • Failed messages will retry automatically: In iOS 26 and earlier, users had to return to the Messages app and tap the retry button when a message failed to send. With iOS 27, the app will retry failed messages in the background, so users do not have to check every conversation manually after leaving the app.
  • Photos, videos, and texts will send independently: iOS 27 fixes the issue where one stuck photo or video can delay everything else in the chat. Each message now gets its own progress bar, which means a text can still go through even when a large media file takes longer to upload.
  • Messages will sync more reliably across devices: Apple also says iOS 27 improves conversation syncing between devices, so users should see fewer missing, delayed, or mismatched messages when moving from iPhone to Mac or iPad.

These fixes do not change the look of Messages in a major way, but they solve real problems that users notice during daily use. For many iPhone owners, iOS 27 should make Messages feel faster, smoother, and less frustrating.
