Apple is reportedly working on a new split-screen app adaptation feature for iOS 27 that could make apps work much better on larger iPhone displays, especially the company’s rumored foldable iPhone. The feature is said to help apps automatically adjust to wider screens without requiring developers to redesign their apps from scratch.
A Solution for Large-Screen iPhones
According to leaker Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo, Apple is developing a feature described as “Parallel View” for iOS. The name appears to be a reference to a similar capability available in Huawei’s HarmonyOS, where apps automatically adapt to larger displays at the system level.

The reported feature would address one of iOS’s biggest limitations on large screens. Most iPhone apps are built for tall and narrow displays, which creates layout problems when they run on wider screens. On a foldable iPhone with a large inner display, many apps would otherwise appear with unused space around them.
The new feature is expected to play an important role in Apple’s first foldable iPhone, which is rumored to feature a 7.8-inch internal display. By adapting apps automatically, Apple can provide a better experience without relying entirely on developers to update their apps.
Earlier this year, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also reported that iOS 27 would support running two apps side by side on the foldable iPhone, similar to the multitasking experience available on iPad.
Apple is expected to introduce iOS 27 at WWDC 2026 later this month. If the reports are accurate, the update could bring a more flexible and productive interface that takes full advantage of larger iPhone displays and prepares iOS for Apple’s next generation of foldable devices.
