Apple has released iPadOS 27.2 developer beta 1 to registered developers. The first beta is build 24B5084k. Apple’s release notes identify one new App Tracking Transparency change for parts of the European Union, alongside two known issues.
This is pre-release software, so back up an iPad before installing it and use a device that is not essential for work or school. Apple’s beta program warns that beta software can contain errors and may not perform as well as commercial releases.
How to update to iPadOS 27.2 beta 1
- On an eligible iPad signed in with the Apple Account enrolled for developer betas, open Settings.
- Tap General, then Software Update.
- Tap Beta Updates and choose iPadOS 27 Developer Beta if it is not already selected.
- Return to Software Update, choose iPadOS 27.2 beta, then tap Download and Install and follow the prompts.
All changes in iPadOS 27.2 beta 1
- Alternative App Tracking Transparency prompt in parts of the EU: Apple says ATT now supports an expanded prompt and annual re-prompting. The alternative prompt is required for users in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Romania.
- Health known issue: personalized summaries may fail to generate in the Insights tab.
- Shortcuts known issue: the Describe a Shortcut feature can display a “Something went wrong” message instead of completing a request.
- Developer testing updates: Apple also lists StoreKit Testing fixes and a remaining subscription-bundle issue for developers using Xcode. Those changes do not describe a new iPad feature for everyday users.
