iPhone 18 Pro in Australia: Telstra’s Trade-In Credit Ends October 9, and What Apple’s Pages Add

Telstra’s own trade-in page offers iPhone 18 Pro buyers up to A$1,620 in credit through October 9, the only Australian carrier offer confirmed this weekend. Optus’s and Vodafone Australia’s own pages did not load on repeated attempts, and a check of Apple’s own pages the same day adds a few points worth correcting.

Pre-orders for iPhone 18 Pro opened Saturday, September 12, and this report checked Telstra’s, Optus’s and Vodafone Australia’s own pages again on Sunday, September 13, alongside Apple’s own trade-in, financing and coverage pages.

What Telstra’s own page says

Telstra’s trade-in page states: “Pre-order the iPhone 18 Pro and get up to $1620 trade-in credit,” breaking that figure down as “$300 trade-in bonus plus $1320 trade-in residual value” on an iPhone 17 Pro Max 1TB in good working order. The page names an end date in plain text: “Offer ends 9 Oct.” A price-match clause reads: “If you then receive a higher trade-in quote elsewhere, we’ll match the difference,” within 21 days of receiving the new phone, provided the competing quote beats Telstra’s combined trade-in value and bonus credit.

Eligibility is limited to Telstra personal or business customers aged 18 or over with an active post-paid service and a device, tablet or smartwatch on an Upfront plan, and the trade-in itself is “powered by Assurant.” The A$1,620 figure needs a specific high-value device; the $300 bonus is the part of the offer that applies on its own, separate from whatever an individual phone is actually worth.

Optus and Vodafone Australia could not be confirmed

Repeated attempts to load Optus’s and Vodafone Australia’s iPhone 18 Pro pages this weekend returned a timeout or a not-found error, so no dollar figure for either carrier appears in this article. Readers should check optus.com.au and vodafone.com.au directly.

Trade-in timing before Friday, and what Apple’s own pages add

Apple’s own trade-in values fell on September 9, days before pre-orders opened, so the clock that matters most for a straight Apple trade-in already ran out before this weekend started. Apple’s trade-in page remains a questionnaire rather than a published price list, unchanged from before pre-orders, and Apple has not published Australia-specific financing terms on its own site, a gap that also covers Germany.

Apple’s own iPhone 18 Pro buy page states the Apple Upgrade lease price at $34.99 a month over 24 months or $49.99 a month over 12 months for a 256GB iPhone 18 Pro, before tax or trade-in credit, and lists carrier maximums of up to $1,200 for AT&T and T-Mobile and up to $1,020 for Verizon. Those are US figures checked the same day, included here because Apple publishes them on the same page as the lease terms, not because they apply in Australia.

One correction is worth stating precisely. AppleCare One’s claim limits, “up to three total claims per year” on the Individual plan and “up to six total claims per year” on Family, apply to theft and loss only. Apple’s own page states accidental damage cover is unlimited, so the three or six figure is not a cap on every kind of claim.

What has not been confirmed

Optus’s and Vodafone Australia’s terms, any Australia-specific financing figure, and whether Telstra will extend its October 9 deadline past Apple Watch Ultra 4’s and iPhone 18 Pro’s September 18 launch are all unconfirmed as of this weekend.

Checked Sunday, September 13. Telstra’s own offer runs five weeks past the September 18 launch before ending October 9, longer than the window this article can track further. Optus and Vodafone Australia should be checked directly, since their pages did not return content this weekend, and anyone weighing AppleCare One should read the theft-and-loss limit separately from the unlimited accident cover before launch day.
