Two of Apple’s own pages disagree about what iPhone 18 Pro’s frame is made of. The tech specs page states “Aluminum unibody design.” Apple’s compare tool, on the same site, lists “Titanium frame” for the identical model, as of this week.
The specs page is the direct product reference for iPhone 18 Pro and is the more detailed of the two on every other measurement, from weight to water resistance, so it is the stronger source to trust here. But the mismatch is real, it sits on apple.com rather than in a leak or a rumor, and it has not been corrected in the material available as of this week.

What the specs page says
Apple’s dedicated specs page for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max describes the build as an aluminum unibody design with a Ceramic Shield 2 front and a Ceramic Shield back. The same page states the enclosure is 40 percent recycled content overall, and the Product Environmental Report narrows that to 85 percent recycled aluminum specifically in the enclosure.

What the compare tool says instead
Apple’s side-by-side compare page, the tool shoppers use to line iPhone 18 Pro up against iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone Air, and older models, lists the frame material as titanium rather than aluminum. Nothing else on that row changes: the same colors, the same Ceramic Shield 2 front and back, the same IP68 rating. Only the frame material differs from what the specs page states.
Aluminum unibody is not new for 2026
Whichever page is right, aluminum in the Pro line did not start with iPhone 18 Pro. iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max already carried an aluminum unibody design last year, after several generations of titanium.

The mismatch is not limited to the smaller model. Apple’s compare tool applies the same “Titanium frame” wording to iPhone 18 Pro Max, which the specs page also describes as an aluminum unibody design, so the discrepancy covers both members of the Pro line rather than one configuration.
Someone comparing materials across Apple’s own lineup, rather than reading the specs page in isolation, would come away from the compare tool thinking iPhone 18 Pro shares its frame metal with iPhone Air and iPhone 16 Pro, when the more detailed specs page and the Product Environmental Report both point to aluminum instead. The two pages agree on everything else that would normally travel with a material change: the same Ceramic Shield 2 front and back, the same IP68 rating, the same four colors. Only the word describing the metal itself differs.
Titanium has not left the current lineup
Titanium is still very much a current Apple material this season, which may be part of why the compare tool’s wording is easy to miss. iPhone Duo carries a Grade 5 titanium frame and hinge cover, and Apple Watch Ultra 4 is built from Grade 5 titanium as well. iPhone 18 Pro is the one model here where Apple’s own pages cannot agree which of the two metals it is.
What Apple has not said
Apple has not explained the discrepancy between its specs page and its compare page, has not stated which page is being updated, and has not published a repair or disassembly document that would settle the question independently. iPhone 18 Pro reaches stores Friday, September 18; until Apple updates one of the two pages, the specs page’s “aluminum unibody design” is the more detailed and more likely figure to rely on.
