The iPhone 18 Pro is sold in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB, and there is no smaller option. Four Pro generations in a row, from the iPhone 13 Pro to the iPhone 16 Pro, started at 128GB, and only one iPhone before this year had a 2TB tier at all.
That is the quiet change in Apple’s Pro storage ladder over five years. Both ends moved: the entry capacity doubled and the ceiling doubled, and the price of getting in rose by $200 in the same two years the small Pro lost its cheapest tier.

The 128GB Pro disappeared in two steps
Apple took the cheapest tier away from the large Pro first. The iPhone 15 Pro Max started at 256GB in 2023 while the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro kept 128GB, and the iPhone 16 Pro was the last Pro of any size to offer it.
By the iPhone 17 Pro in 2025 the whole Pro line started at 256GB, and the starting price had moved to $1,099. Apple presented neither change as a removal. The 128GB row simply stopped appearing on the spec sheet.
The 2TB tier took a year to reach the small Pro
Apple added 2TB with the iPhone 17 Pro Max last year, and only there. The 6.3-inch iPhone 17 Pro topped out at 1TB, which meant the largest configuration was tied to the largest body.
iPhone 18 Pro breaks that link. Both sizes now offer all four tiers, so the 2TB choice no longer forces the 6.9-inch phone on you, and our Pro against Pro Max guide covers what else the size decides.
What the four tiers cost today
Apple’s US Store prices the iPhone 18 Pro ladder in even steps, and the same $100 carrier-connectivity difference applies at every rung.
- 256GB: $1,199 with carrier connectivity, $1,299 unlocked
- 512GB: $1,399 with carrier connectivity, $1,499 unlocked
- 1TB: $1,799 with carrier connectivity, $1,899 unlocked
- 2TB: $2,399 with carrier connectivity, $2,499 unlocked
Set that against the 128GB era and the arithmetic is plain. In 2021 a Pro iPhone cost $999 and held 128GB. Today the smallest Pro holds twice as much and costs $200 more before the unlocked difference, which our iPhone 18 Pro price breakdown covers in full.

What Apple has not said
Apple has not published how much space iOS 27 occupies on a new phone, how many minutes of 4K120 or ProRes video fit in each tier, or any statement about why 128GB ended. Storage is also the one choice at checkout that cannot be changed later, and Apple does not say so on the buy page.
iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max pre-orders open today, Saturday September 12, at 5 a.m. PT, which is 12:00 UTC, with delivery and store availability from Friday September 18. iOS 27 arrives free on Monday September 14, two days before the phones ship.
