iPhone 18 Pro Trade-In Outside the US: One Number in the UK, One in India, Silence in Seven Markets

Apple has published exactly three trade-in figures for this launch, and only one of them is a range. It is $175 to $885 in the US for an iPhone 13 or later, a single Ā£455 in the UK for an iPhone 16 Pro or later, and up to ₹62,000 in India for an eligible smartphone exchange. The other seven storefronts we track carry no published figure at all.

That matters more than usual this year. Apple raised the price of the older iPhones it kept rather than cutting them, so trading in is one of the few published routes down, and the values recorded for individual models fell on September 9, the day the new phones were announced.

The US range and the UK figure are not the same kind of statement. Apple’s US wording sets a floor and a ceiling across a wide span of phones, while the UK number is one value for recent Pro models and says nothing about what an older iPhone is worth toward an iPhone 18 Pro.

Apple does not publish a per-model table anywhere

Apple’s trade-in page is a questionnaire rather than a price list, and its own description of the method is that the amount ā€œdepends on the device, model, manufacturer, and condition.ā€ Any per-model figure you see, in any currency, is a value recorded for that model rather than a table Apple publishes.

  • The values recorded for individual iPhones fell on September 9, some by as much as $120.
  • An iPhone 16 Pro was recorded at $510 after that change, against $630 before it.
  • The $885 ceiling needs an iPhone 17 Pro Max in good condition, so it is not a number most people should plan around.
  • Every figure is a maximum subject to inspection, and a cracked screen or a failed diagnostic quotes lower.

Carrier credit is a US-only line on the page

Apple’s up to $1,200 carrier figure appears on its US store, where AT&T and T-Mobile both advertise credit for a trade-in in any condition. The tiers behind it, $350, $930 and $1,200, appear only in Apple’s footnotes. AT&T’s own site publishes no iPhone 18 Pro offer, Verizon publishes only a pre-order time, and T-Mobile’s terms could not be verified, so treat the tiers as Apple’s description of a carrier offer rather than the carrier’s.

The structural difference matters more than the headline. Apple credits trade-in value at checkout, in Apple’s own word, instantly. Carrier credit arrives as 24 to 36 monthly bill credits, so the larger number is only realised by staying on that carrier and plan for the whole term. Outside the US, no carrier credit figure is published on Apple’s pages at all.

India publishes the most detailed rules

Apple India sets out more conditions than any other storefront in this set. Mac, iPad and Apple Watch trade-in is in-store only, while iPhone trade-in works both online and in store. Alongside it sit up to 6 months of No Cost EMI and a cashback offer with eligible American Express, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank cards, with a minimum transaction of ₹10,001 and a limit of two orders per rolling 90-day period.

One caution on that cashback. The ₹15,000 figure on Apple India’s page is a store-wide ceiling across the whole catalogue, and ₹7,000 is what has been recorded for iPhone specifically. It is not ₹15,000 off an iPhone 18 Pro, and the EMI figures on the Indian store already assume a discount has been applied.

What has not been confirmed

Apple has published no trade-in figure for Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Japan, Singapore or the UAE, no per-model values in any market, no grading scale for condition, and no trade-in figure for an Apple Watch or AirPods against the new products. Its iPhone Duo release repeats the generic trade-in line and does not extend the carrier figure to the foldable.

Pre-orders open at 12:00 UTC today, Saturday, September 12, and trade-in is quoted inside that checkout. iPhone 18 Pro reaches stores on Friday, September 18, with 20 more countries on Friday, September 25.
