In a TechRadar interview, Marieb discussed the choices Apple says were made to reduce the visibility of the crease and make the hinge feel consistent over time.
Marieb pointed to iPhone Duo’s matte nano-texture display finish as one part of Apple’s approach. A less reflective surface can make changes in display topology less obvious to the eye. That is a design explanation, not proof that the crease will remain invisible after years of real-world use.
