iPhone Duo: The Ledger of What Apple Has Not Published

iPhone Duo has a press release, a full display and camera spec sheet, and a price ladder running $1,999 to $3,199. What it does not have, on any Apple page, is a fold-cycle rating, a battery capacity in mAh, a RAM figure, a repair price, screen-protector guidance, or an Apple Pencil date more specific than “later this year.” This is the ledger of what remains unpublished for Apple’s first foldable.

iPhone Duo pre-orders open Friday, October 16, with availability Friday, October 23, so there is more time than iPhone 18 Pro has for these gaps to close. They have not moved since the September 9 keynote. For the specs that are confirmed, see our iPhone Duo launch coverage.

What Apple has confirmed about iPhone Duo

Apple’s product page and tech specs cover the displays, the A20 Pro chip, the camera system and the full four-tier price grid. Our Duo versus 18 Pro Max comparison lines up what each phone actually offers.

The numbers a foldable comparison cannot use

Apple has never published a fold-cycle or hinge-durability rating for iPhone Duo, on the product page, the tech specs page or in the press release. Rival foldables that publish a number in this category do so on their own pages; Apple’s page has no equivalent row at all.

The same is true of battery capacity in mAh and RAM. Apple states battery life only in hours, by activity: up to 24 hours typical use, up to 44 hours of video playback on the outer display, up to 31 hours on the inner display. It has not converted any of that into a milliamp-hour figure, and it has never listed a memory figure for any iPhone, Duo included.

The repair, protection and price-basis gaps

Screen or hinge repair pricing for iPhone Duo is not published anywhere. Apple’s support library, which would normally carry an out-of-warranty repair cost once a device reaches customers, has no Duo entry yet, and Duo does not reach customers until October 23.

Apple’s product and specs pages describe a custom nano-texture finish and a scratch-resistant coating on the inner display, but neither page, nor the press release, says anything about using a separate screen protector on either display. Whether one is recommended, discouraged or simply untested by Apple is not addressed.

There is also a basic pricing question still open. Apple’s $1,999 figure for 256GB has no live configurator behind it yet, so whether that price already includes a carrier-connectivity discount, the way iPhone 18 Pro’s $1,199 does, or is the unlocked price, is not something Apple has stated either way.

The accessory timing gap

Apple Pencil, USB-C, works on both of Duo’s displays, according to Apple’s own product page. The arrival date attached to that sentence is “later this year,” with no month, week or specific date given anywhere else. The iPhone Duo Case at $79 and the Folio with Kickstand at $129 both have published prices and an October 16 order date; Apple Pencil’s timing does not.

A per-device AppleCare+ price for iPhone Duo has not been published either, the same gap that applies to every product from this launch. Apple’s release confirms AppleCare+ and AppleCare One plans are available for iPhone Duo without stating what either costs for this specific phone.

What Apple has not said

Apple has not said whether a fold-cycle rating is coming, whether Duo’s $1,999 will resolve into a carrier-connected and an unlocked price the way iPhone 18 Pro’s did, or when Apple Pencil support actually arrives. Each gap above is the kind that a support-library update, a live configurator or a single new sentence on the product page would settle; none of them is something Apple has ruled out, only something it has not yet stated. Our iPhone Duo camera breakdown covers what is confirmed on that side of the phone.

Five weeks remain before iPhone Duo reaches anyone’s hands. Pre-orders open October 16 at 5 a.m. PT, and the honest expectation is that the repair price and the support documents land closer to October 23 than to today.
