Kwikset is making it much easier to control your home security while you are behind the wheel. The popular smart lock company just updated its official app to support Apple CarPlay. This means you can now lock or unlock your front door right from the infotainment screen in your vehicle.
You no longer need to pull out your iPhone or ask Siri to make sure your house is secure after you drive away.
How the Kwikset Apple CarPlay update works
Once you update the Kwikset app on your phone, a new icon will appear on your CarPlay dashboard. Tapping the app brings up a simple menu showing all the Kwikset locks connected to your account. The interface is designed to be very basic, so it does not distract you from driving.
It displays the current status of each lock and gives you a large button to tap if you need to lock or unlock the door. Notably, the new feature has arrived soon after CarPlay added support for Lucid Gravity SUVs.
These Kwikset locks are supported by the new functionality
The new update applies to anyone using the standard Kwikset app on their iPhone. This covers most of the newer Kwikset smart locks that have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built directly into the hardware. Popular models like the Halo product line will work perfectly with the new system.
