Apple has released macOS 26.2 beta 3 to registered developers, only a short time after beta 2 arrived earlier this month. The new build keeps the focus on polishing macOS Tahoe rather than adding big headline features, but it still moves the upcoming update closer to public release.
Beta 2 introduced the new Edge Light effect for video calls, which places a subtle light frame around your display during FaceTime and other supported apps. Beta 3 continues that work behind the scenes, with more attention on reliability and visual polish instead of major UI changes.
How to install macOS 26.2 beta 3
If you already run a previous macOS 26 beta, updating is simple:
- Back up your Mac first.
- Open System Settings.
- Go to General > Software Update.
- Make sure Beta Updates is set to the macOS Developer Tahoe beta.
- When macOS 26.2 beta 3 appears, click Update Now and follow the prompts.
Developers who join the beta program for the first time can enable the same toggle in Software Update after signing in with their Apple ID, then download the update like any other macOS release.
macOS 26.2 general changes
Across the 26.2 cycle, Apple is tuning the new Liquid Glass interface, with smoother animations and more refined transitions around windows and menus.
On the media side, Apple Music gains richer lyric handling and better integration with sharing features, while the Podcasts app uses on-device intelligence to create automatic chapters and smarter links between episodes. Freeform continues to grow as a planning tool, with support for tables so you can structure boards more like lightweight spreadsheets. Reminders also tie in more closely with alarms, making it easier to turn a simple alert into a time-based wake-up or nudge.
We will keep an eye on smaller tweaks and fixes as developers spend more time with today’s build. If you spot any changes in macOS 26.2 beta 3, let us know in the comments.
