Apple is preparing new 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models for spring 2027, with the update expected to focus on faster performance rather than a major design change. The next iPad Pro lineup will likely keep the current sizes, while Apple works on internal upgrades that make the tablets more powerful for demanding apps, creative work, and AI features.
Bloomberg reports that Apple is testing four new iPad Pro models for release next year and plans to keep the same 11-inch and 13-inch display options. The main upgrade will come from Apple’s next-generation chips, though the final processor choice still depends on Apple’s 2027 roadmap.
The new iPad Pro models could use either the M6 chip or the M7 chip. Apple plans to introduce the M6 first, but the M7 is also expected in the first half of 2027. Both chips will reportedly use Apple’s new 2-nanometer process, while the M7 should bring stronger AI optimizations.
Apple has also tested a vapor chamber cooling system for the iPad Pro, which can help the tablet maintain better performance during long editing, gaming, or productivity sessions. This kind of cooling system would make sense if Apple wants the iPad Pro to handle heavier workloads without overheating.
If Apple launches the new iPad Pro in spring 2027, it could arrive alongside other major products, including the iPhone 18e, iPhone 18, and iPhone Air 2. Apple’s 2027 lineup is already shaping up to be a busy one, especially as the company prepares new hardware around the iPhone’s 20th anniversary year.
