Snap is bringing a highly requested tool to its popular social media app to help friends meet up in the real world. The company just launched a new feature called Snapchat Plans that lets users organize and track in-person events without ever leaving the platform. This addition aims to turn casual text conversations into actual gatherings by keeping all your important scheduling details in one central place.
Users can create private events and track guest lists easily
The new tool makes organizing a get-together simple. A host can start by giving the event a name, picking a date, and selecting a time. From there, they can send invitations to as many as 200 mutual friends. The platform also adds a fun visual element by letting people use custom Bitmoji art for the cover photo of the invitation.
When a host sends out invites, the messages go directly into individual chat windows. This setup lets friends quickly reply with options like going, maybe, or cannot go. Replying to an invite will not disrupt any normal text conversations you are already having on the Snapchat platform. Everything remains private and is strictly invite-only, so strangers cannot see your gathering.

To keep things organized, the company added a dedicated section on the user profile to manage these gatherings. People can check out their past, current, and upcoming gatherings in a single spot. Guests even get a handy reminder notification one hour before the meetup starts.
A future update will make things even faster by allowing users to build an event right inside an active text thread. By focusing on real friendships, this new feature turns a basic digital chat app into a useful tool for hanging out offline.
