X Launches Grok-powered Custom Timelines for Premium Subscribers

X Custom Timelines

X has started rolling out a new feature that lets users build custom timelines powered by AI. The update is currently limited to Premium subscribers and focuses on giving people more control over what they see. Instead of relying only on the default algorithm or chronological feeds, users can now shape timelines around specific topics, interests, or themes.

The goal is simple: make the feed feel more relevant without constant manual filtering.

Users can build topic feeds with Grok AI’s assistance

The new system allows Premium users to create timelines based on keywords or topics they care about. Once set, X uses AI to gather posts that match those interests and keeps the feed updated in real time. There are more than 75 topics or interests to choose from for your custom timeline.

For example, someone following tech news can create a dedicated timeline that filters out unrelated content. The AI handles sorting and ranking, so users do not need to manually curate lists or mute accounts repeatedly. This is a shift from older tools like lists, which required more hands-on setup and maintenance.

Early previews shared by Nikita Bier suggest the feature is designed to feel simple and fast. Users can switch between timelines easily, making it closer to having multiple feeds inside the same app.

Feature targets power users and cleaner content discovery

This update clearly leans toward users who spend a lot of time on the platform. Premium subscribers often look for more control, and custom timelines give them a way to cut through noise without leaving the app.

It also hints at how X is using AI to improve content discovery. Instead of just recommending posts, the system now helps build entire feeds around user intent. That changes how people interact with the platform, especially those who follow niche topics.

There is also a broader push here. X has been adding more Premium features to justify subscriptions, and AI tools are becoming a central part of that strategy. Custom timelines fit into that direction by offering something that feels both useful and personalized.

The rollout is still limited to iOS devices, so not all users will see it right away. However, it is expected to expand gradually if early feedback stays positive.
