How to Pre-Order iPhone Duo for $57.99 Per Month With Apple Upgrade

Apple has opened iPhone Duo pre-orders on October 16, 2026, and customers in the United States can get the company’s first foldable iPhone through Apple Upgrade, its new leasing program powered by Klarna. Instead of paying the full $1,999 starting price upfront, eligible customers can lease the device for as little as $57.99 per month.

Pre-orders began at 5 a.m. PT (8 a.m. ET), with deliveries and in-store availability starting October 23. Apple offers both 12-month and 24-month leasing options, along with trade-in credits that can reduce monthly payments.

As we previously covered, Apple replaced its older iPhone Upgrade Program with Apple Upgrade, giving customers additional leasing choices.

How to Pre-Order iPhone Duo Through Apple Upgrade

You can complete the entire process through Apple’s website or the Apple Store app, although Klarna must approve your lease application before you can complete your order.

Follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Apple Upgrade website or open the Apple Store app on your iPhone.
  2. Find iPhone Duo under the available iPhone models and select it.
  3. Choose your preferred color, storage capacity, and eligible carrier.
  4. Select Apple Upgrade as your payment option.
  5. Choose between the 12-month or 24-month lease.
  6. Apply through Klarna by entering your personal information, billing details, and required identity information.
  7. Review the credit decision, monthly payments, taxes, and lease agreement.
  8. Add AppleCare coverage or an eligible trade-in if you want.
  9. Confirm your delivery or pickup details and complete the pre-order.

Klarna performs a soft credit check when you apply, which does not affect your credit score. Approval is subject to eligibility, and Apple requires customers to be at least 18 years old and residents of the United States.

iPhone Duo Apple Upgrade Leasing Prices

Apple offers the iPhone Duo through Apple Upgrade with the following starting monthly payments:

Payment optionStarting monthly cost
Apple Upgrade, 24-month lease$57.99
Apple Upgrade, 12-month lease$82.99
Apple Card, 24-month installments$83.29

These starting prices apply to the base configuration, and the lease amounts exclude taxes and trade-in credits. AppleCare coverage is also available separately.

Customers can receive between $175 and $885 in instant credit when trading in an eligible iPhone 13 or newer, depending on the device and its condition. Apple also offers eligible carrier trade-in promotions worth up to $1,200.

What Happens When Your Apple Upgrade Lease Ends?

Apple Upgrade allows you to choose what happens to your iPhone Duo once your lease reaches its end.

  • Upgrade: Return your existing device and begin a new lease for an eligible iPhone.
  • Buy: Pay the remaining buyout amount to keep your iPhone Duo.
  • Return: Send the device back and leave the program.

As we previously explained, failing to choose an option can result in the lease continuing month-to-month for up to six months.

Apple has not published the exact end-of-term buyout price, so customers should review the full agreement before signing up.

Is Apple Upgrade Available Outside the US?

Apple Upgrade is currently limited to eligible US residents. Customers in other countries can still pre-order iPhone Duo through Apple’s regional online stores and explore locally available financing, trade-in, or installment options.

The iPhone Duo officially arrives on October 23, and customers can check delivery estimates during checkout. If you want to get the foldable iPhone through Apple Upgrade, review the monthly cost, lease conditions, and device return requirements before confirming your order.
