Apple has officially announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, bringing a faster A20 Pro chip, upgraded cameras, longer battery life, a smaller Dynamic Island, and several new AI-focused features to its flagship iPhone lineup.
The iPhone 18 Pro series keeps the overall design of the iPhone 17 Pro generation, although Apple has changed the rear finish and introduced four colors: black, light blue, glacier silver, and burgundy red.
A20 Pro brings faster performance and more AI power
Apple powers both models with the new A20 Pro chip, which uses a 2-nanometer manufacturing process and includes a six-core CPU with two performance cores and four efficiency cores.

The chip also includes a seven-core GPU that delivers up to 40% faster graphics performance, while the upgraded 32-core Neural Engine and 50% increase in memory bandwidth give Apple more room for advanced AI features.
Apple has also connected the A20 Pro directly to a next-generation vapor chamber, which improves cooling and helps the phones maintain higher performance during demanding workloads.
Smaller Dynamic Island and longer battery life
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max feature a smaller Dynamic Island that can display as many as three Live Activities at the same time, giving users more information without taking up as much screen space.
Battery life also improves this year, with the iPhone 18 Pro matching the battery performance of last year’s iPhone 17 Pro Max, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max reaches up to 30 hours of battery life. Apple has also increased wired charging speeds.
Cameras gain variable aperture and manual controls
The 48MP Fusion main camera now supports variable aperture on both Pro models, allowing users to adjust depth of field while improving low-light performance and speeding up Night mode captures.
Apple has also added more professional controls inside the Camera app, including manual aperture and shutter speed adjustment, improved subject tracking through Smart Focus, and expanded Photographic Styles with additional texture controls.
Another new feature, called Apple Reference Image, adds verification metadata and stores an original reference image alongside edits, helping users confirm that a photo came from a real source rather than an AI-generated image.
iPhone 18 Pro price and release date
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 and now offers a 2TB storage option for the first time, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299, marking a $100 increase over the previous generation.
Pre-orders begin September 12, followed by the official launch on September 18, alongside updated Clear Case, silicone, FineWoven, and wrist strap accessories.
