The iPhone Duo comes in two colors, Night Sky and Star White, according to Apple’s product page and press release. That is half the choice Apple offers on the iPhone 18 Pro, which launched the same day in Black, Silver, Glacier and Burgundy.
Early keynote coverage described the pair simply as dark blue and white; Night Sky and Star White are Apple’s official names. Both finishes sit on a mirror-polished Grade 5 titanium frame with Ceramic Shield on the back, which is the surface that shows the color when the phone is closed.
iPhone Duo colors vs iPhone 18 Pro colors
| Model | Colors | Frame and back |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone Duo | Night Sky, Star White | Mirror-polished Grade 5 titanium, Ceramic Shield back |
| iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max | Black, Silver, Glacier, Burgundy | Aluminum enclosure with a new rear finish |
The iPhone 18 Pro added a returning Black and two new shades this year, while the Duo opens with one dark and one light option and nothing in between. Apple has not said whether more Duo colors will follow.

Why Apple launched the iPhone Duo in only two colors
Apple has not explained the decision, so the following is our analysis of the announcement rather than anything Apple has stated. Three factors stand out.
- A new manufacturing line: the Duo introduces a folding display, a 3D-printed titanium hinge cover, a hinge with more than 100 components and a mirror-polished titanium frame, all new to iPhone. Each added finish is another variable on a line that is building a product for the first time.
- Apple’s own precedent: first-generation Apple hardware has tended to ship in a short list of finishes and grow the palette in later years, and the Duo follows that pattern rather than the four-color Pro launch.
- The price point: at $1,999, the Duo is positioned above the Pro rather than beside it, and one dark and one light finish cover the two choices most buyers make at the top of the range.
None of that rules out a mid-cycle addition, but Apple has published nothing to suggest one. What it has published is a pair of accessories in colors that do not match the phone: the $79 iPhone Duo Case in sand or navy blue, and the $129 Folio with kickstand in navy blue or taupe.
Night Sky or Star White: how to choose
Apple has not described either shade beyond its name, so the choice comes down to preference and how you plan to carry the phone. With the Duo Case or Folio on, most of the Ceramic Shield back is covered and the titanium frame edge is the color you see most.
Whichever you pick, the specifications are identical: same $1,999 starting price, same 256GB to 2TB storage tiers, same 254 g weight. Our pre-keynote iPhone Duo preview tracked the color rumors, and our iPhone 18 Pro vs iPhone Duo comparison covers the rest of the differences.
Pre-orders for both colors open Friday, October 16 at 5 a.m. PT, with availability on Friday, October 23 in more than 70 countries and regions. Apple has not said whether one color will ship in larger numbers than the other.
