Siri AI on iPhone 18 Pro ships as a beta, is subject to daily usage limits, and will offer what Apple calls expanded access for a fee in the future. Those three points sit in the footnotes of Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and iOS 27 pages, and none of them comes with a number, a price or a date.
That matters for anyone paying $1,199 or more partly for the intelligence features Apple put on stage. The phone itself is not in beta, and the hardware is ready: the A20 Pro carries a dual 16-core Neural Engine that Apple says doubles the AI processing of the A19 Pro, as explained in our A20 Pro guide. The software on top of it is what Apple is still labelling as unfinished.

What the daily usage limit covers
Apple’s iOS 27 page says Siri AI is “subject to daily usage limits” and the iPhone 18 Pro page repeats it as “usage limits apply.” Apple does not say how many requests, minutes or conversations a day that means, whether the cap resets at a fixed time, or whether some kinds of request count more than others. The same “usage limits may apply” note appears on the Photos editing tools (Spatial Reframing, Extend and the enhanced Clean Up) and on Image Playground, so the limit is not unique to Siri.

What Siri AI does within the limit is spelled out more clearly. Apple’s iOS 27 page says you can type or talk naturally, ask open-ended questions, brainstorm ideas for work or creative projects, and hold back-and-forth conversations. It can search for a photo from years ago, locate an email buried in your inbox or pull up a note, take actions in apps like Messages, Music and Reminders, and answer questions on virtually any topic from facts to recipes and restaurant recommendations. In Messages and Mail it can generate a draft from scratch or give feedback on what you have written.
The future paid tier: what Apple has and has not said
The line “expanded access available for a fee in the future” is the only mention of paid Siri AI on Apple’s iOS 27 page. It tells you two things: the launch version is free with iOS 27, and the daily limit is the thing a fee will eventually raise. It does not tell you the price, whether the fee is a subscription or a one-off, when it arrives, or whether iPhone 18 Pro buyers get any extra allowance over older Apple Intelligence iPhones.
For comparison, Apple has published exact figures for its other new services: iPhone 18 Pro’s own $49.95 a month installment price is on the Store page. Siri AI’s future fee has no equivalent line anywhere on Apple’s pages as of September 10.
What ‘beta’ means for the phone you are buying
Apple’s press release says Siri AI launches in beta in English on September 14, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish following in October. Apple has not said when the beta label comes off. The rest of Apple Intelligence supports 16 languages according to Apple’s iOS 27 page: Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Vietnamese. Siri AI is narrower than that at launch.
Region matters more than the beta label for some buyers. Apple’s iOS 27 page says Siri AI will not initially be available in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, while Apple’s June press release says it is available on Mac and Vision Pro there. Apple’s June release also says the new features are unavailable in China pending regulatory approval. Apple Intelligence itself runs on-device and with Private Cloud Compute, according to Apple’s press release.

Apple’s iOS 27 page also introduces a dedicated Siri app that brings all your conversations together, so you can ask a question on iPhone and pick up where you left off on iPad. What Apple has not said
- The size of the daily usage limit, how it is counted, or when it resets.
- The price, format or date of the paid expanded-access tier.
- When Siri AI leaves beta, or whether iPhone 18 Pro owners get any different allowance from other Apple Intelligence iPhones.
- A date for Siri AI on iPhone in the EU, or for regulatory approval in China.
- Languages beyond the five arriving in October.
Siri AI arrives with iOS 27 on Monday, September 14 as a free update for iPhone 11 and later, with Apple Intelligence features limited to iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 or newer. iPhone 18 Pro pre-orders open Saturday, September 12 at 5 a.m. PT from $1,199, and the phone is in stores on September 18, according to Apple’s press release.
