Apple’s “Surprise and shine” event takes place today, September 9, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, or 10:30 p.m. IST, with the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, Apple’s first foldable iPhone, new Apple Watch models, and possibly AirPods 5 expected to lead the keynote. Apple’s September 9 event details
However, Apple has several other products in development that probably will not appear during today’s keynote. Reports increasingly point to a split launch strategy, with some iPhones moving into 2027 while Macs and Home products remain candidates for separate launches later this year.

The regular iPhone 18 looks set for 2027
The biggest missing product should be the standard iPhone 18. Apple has historically introduced the regular and Pro iPhones together, but reports say the company is changing that schedule starting with this generation.

The standard iPhone 18 is expected in early 2027, potentially alongside the iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2. That leaves the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and foldable iPhone as the main premium phones expected today.
The regular iPhone 18 is rumored to use Apple’s A20 chip and receive other hardware improvements, including an upgraded front camera, but buyers looking for the standard model will probably need to wait several more months.
Don’t expect the iPhone Air 2 either
The second-generation iPhone Air also appears headed for spring 2027. Current prototypes reportedly include a dual-camera system, while Apple continues working on battery life and thermal performance without abandoning the thin design.

New Macs should come later
Apple is also developing new Macs, but September’s keynote remains primarily an iPhone and Apple Watch event. An M6 MacBook Pro and updated iMac are among the products reportedly planned for later, while a more substantial MacBook Pro redesign with an OLED display and touch support has been linked to late 2026 or early 2027.
That makes a major Mac announcement during today’s keynote unlikely.
Apple could save its Home products for later
Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini, and Apple’s long-rumored Home hub sit in a less certain category. Apple has been preparing a broader Home hardware push, and recent retail plans have pointed to new Home products this fall.
However, Apple can easily hold these devices for a separate October or November announcement rather than crowd an event already centered on new iPhones, Apple Watch models, and potentially its first foldable phone.
So while Apple can always deliver a surprise, the regular iPhone 18, iPhone Air 2, Apple Watch SE 4, and major new Macs remain the safest products to leave off your expectations list today.
