Apple TV 3.0.1 Update Fixes Missing Content Bug

TMO Talk (1)

Apple released Apple TV 3.0.1 to address a problem with temporarily disappearing content on Saturday. Apple considered the update important enough to warrant sending owners an email on Saturday asking them to manually initiate the update process.

The 3.0 update Apple released several days ago introduced an issue where content would look as if it was missing from the Apple TV.

To install the update, Apple suggested that users first reboot their Apple TV by unplugging and then reconnecting the power cord. After the device reboots, do this:

  • Go to Settings > General.
  • Select Update Software.
  • Choose Download and Install.

Some Apple TV users that updated to Apple TV 3.0 had been reporting a problem where TV shows, music and movies seemed to disappear from the device until it synced with their computer. The version 3.0 release added support for the new iTunes LP format, streaming Internet radio, and Genius Playlists.

It worked for me…

With 3.x, the ATV did delete all of my audio files, but none of my pictures.  Interestingly, it re-synched all the files back that evening…  I just put 3.01 on.. smile
