Apple’s iPhone Fold Nears Final Design With Only Small Changes Left

Apple’s Foldable iPhone

Apple’s iPhone Fold is moving closer to the finish line. The device now needs only a few small design adjustments before it enters full production. This progress matters because Apple already solved the biggest challenge. The company reached a crease-free display design, which sets the iPhone Fold apart from every other foldable phone on the market. With this step done, Apple shifted the device into pre-production, and suppliers started preparing for large-scale assembly.

Apple spent five years developing this unique folding design. According to United Daily News, the supply chain built around this device includes major names such as Samsung and TSMC. Foxconn, Shin Zu Shing, Chi Hong, and Largan Precision are also lined up to benefit from the launch.

In that same report, United Daily News said Chi Hong will supply a vapor chamber for the iPhone Fold, marking the first time this cooling part has been linked to the device.

A New Standard for Cooling

The vapor chamber plays an important role. Apple plans to make this style of cooling standard across future models, beginning with the iPhone 17 Pro line. With the iPhone Fold expected to run the powerful A20 Pro chip, faster heat dissipation will help the device stay stable during heavy use. This design choice also shows Apple preparing the Fold to handle complex workloads without slowing down.

At the same time, production estimates tell you how big Apple expects this device to be. The company aims to produce between seven and nine million units in its first year. That number could account for up to forty percent of all foldable smartphone shipments worldwide. The foldable market has struggled for years because high prices hold customers back. Apple believes its software ecosystem and brand loyalty will change that.

Pricing and Performance

The iPhone Fold will not come cheap. Reports point to a starting price of $2399. Even so, Apple expects customers to choose the Fold over Android rivals because they value the seamless hardware and new iOS 27 software experience. The crease-less design alone gives Apple a strong visual advantage, and the A20 Pro chip adds more weight to the premium story.

Looking ahead, both the A20 and A20 Pro will introduce new improvements that help justify the high asking price. Apple wants the Fold to serve as a showcase for its next-generation technology, and the company is positioning it as a major leap in the iPhone lineup.

The iPhone Fold has only a few finishing touches left. Once those are complete, Apple will be ready for mass production and a major new chapter in its hardware history.
