Dark Matter Season 2 release date

Apple just confirmed when we will finally get to see the next chapter of its hit science fiction series. The company announced that the second season of Dark Matter will officially premiere on its streaming platform on August 28, 2026. Fans have been waiting to find out what happens next to the main characters.

Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly are both returning to lead the cast for the new episodes on Apple TV+.

What to expect from the new episodes

The first season left viewers with plenty of unanswered questions about alternate realities and the consequences of the choices the characters made. Now the story is ready to pick up right where things left off. Apple released a few new photos alongside the release date announcement, giving a quick look at the expanding universe of the show.

Here’s Apple’s official season 2 plot summary:

“Season two picks up with the Dessens as they settle into a quiet life in a world that finally seems safe until the unimaginable forces them to run once again. As Jason’s obsession with the Box deepens, Daniela’s (Connelly) growing paranoia pushes her to the brink, threatening to tear their fragile stability apart. Elsewhere, Amanda (Braga) and Ryan (Simpson) join forces in a desperate attempt to find their way home. With Blair (Brugel) determined to stop him, Leighton (Okeniyi) relentlessly chases his grand vision of creating a perfect world.”

Since its debut, the series has built a dedicated audience who enjoy its complex storytelling. You can expect more timeline jumping and tense situations when the show comes back late this summer. A full trailer is also on the way soon to give us a better idea of the plot.
