Apple Will Bring New OLED Displays to the iPad Air Early Next Year

Apple is preparing to bring brighter and more colorful screens to its mid-range tablets. According to a new report from South Korea, the company plans to upgrade the next iPad Air with an OLED display early next year. This move means the tech giant is finally shifting away from older LCD panels for its Air lineup, bringing the visual quality much closer to what you see on the high-end iPad Pro.

Production starts soon for an expected release in early 2027

Industry sources indicate that Samsung Display will begin making these new OLED panels around the end of this year or early January. If production stays on track, Apple is expected to launch the updated iPad Air in March or May of 2027. The Air model usually sells in higher volumes than the Pro, so moving to OLED is a notable shift for the display supply chain.

It will bring better contrast, deeper blacks, and a generally sharper image to a much wider group of users.

The new screen misses out on faster refresh rate technology

Even with the leap to OLED, Apple is keeping a few features exclusive to its premium tablets. The upcoming iPad Air will reportedly use a simpler panel design. This means it will likely remain capped at a standard 60Hz refresh rate, missing out on the smoother 120Hz ProMotion technology found in the iPad Pro.

By limiting the screen tech just a bit, the company can keep the price lower while still giving buyers a massive visual upgrade.

Once the Air and the rumored iPad mini make the switch to OLED, the basic entry-level iPad will be the only tablet in the lineup still relying on an older LCD screen.

  • This is another price update that is really a Scam from Apple that has been going on by all the Phone Companies around the World. Just take the time and Study their product pricing tactics, especially with the pricing updates for upgrading the price update for what size of hard drive compared to other top end devices. Memory update prices compared the same. But, I will continue buying Apple Products because they are still the BEST
