Apple Maps Brings A Detailed 3D Experience To The Miami Grand Prix

Apple Maps F1 Grand Prix Miami update

Apple just rolled out a major update for its mapping app right before the big Formula One race in Florida. The first United States race of the season takes place in Miami on May 3. To celebrate, the company is giving fans a much closer look at the event. Apple Maps now features a highly detailed digital version of the Miami International Autodrome.

This update makes finding your way around the busy track much easier for fans attending in person or watching from home.

The map update includes detailed digital models of the track

The new map shows off some very cool three-dimensional landmarks. When you look at the app, you can see digital versions of the grandstands, the marina, and the finish line. Apple even built a virtual pit building that has tiny digital race cars sitting inside it.

You can also zoom in to look closely at the actual racing surface. The map highlights specific details like the curb striping and the sharp turns that drivers will navigate on race day. This builds on a similar update the company released earlier this year for the race in Australia. Apple plans to add more track maps as the racing season continues.

Fans get helpful travel guides and useful local walking directions

If you plan to attend the race in person, the app now has tools to help you get around the crowded event space. Apple added walking directions that show exactly where to find important spots. You can quickly locate entry gates, pedestrian bridges, restrooms, and water stations without getting lost.

The app also includes special travel guides made just for race week. You can read a local guide to find good places to eat and shop near the venue. A second guide points out interesting spots right next to the track itself.

Also, fans watching from home should note that Apple TV subscribers can stream all the races for free this year.
