Vapor Chamber Cooling Could Arrive With the M6 MacBook Pro
According to claims shared by ExoticSpice on X in a reply to a 9to5Mac contributor, Appleās redesigned M6 MacBook Pro lineup will feature vapor chamber cooling. This would mark one of the biggest thermal upgrades to the MacBook Pro in years, especially as Apple reportedly works on thinner designs for future models.
Vapor chamber cooling spreads heat more efficiently across a larger surface area, which helps reduce thermal buildup inside slim laptops. The report also claims the cooling system will cover more of the internal board instead of focusing only on the processor area.
That matters because newer high-speed PCIe Gen 5 SSDs used in Pro models can generate significant heat during demanding tasks, with some NAND chips reportedly reaching temperatures close to 100 degrees Celsius.
The upgraded cooling system could also include redesigned fans and improved airflow management, allowing the M6 Pro and M6 Max chips to maintain higher CPU and GPU speeds for longer periods without thermal throttling.
The rumor also mentions possible improvements to Appleās thermal paste application, which could further improve heat transfer efficiency inside future MacBook Pro models.
