The streaming wars just saw a major shift in the rankings. A new market share report shows that the Apple TV streaming service is steadily climbing the charts and gaining ground on the biggest players. Thanks to consistent growth over the last twelve months, the platform has officially pushed past some heavy hitters to become the fourth-largest video subscription service in the country.
The streaming platform passes major rivals to claim fourth place
JustWatch recently released its streaming market share report for the second quarter of the year. The data reveals that Apple and its video platform grew by one percent this quarter, bringing its total market share to thirteen percent. This bump was enough to finally push it past both Hulu and HBO Max in the overall subscriber rankings.
What makes this milestone impressive is the yearly progress. The service saw a five percent jump over the past year, which makes it the fastest growing platform on the entire list. Meanwhile, Netflix still holds the top spot with twenty percent of the market, followed closely by Amazon Prime Video and Disney Plus.
While the top three leaders are staying relatively steady in their positions, the battle for the middle of the pack is getting very competitive as viewers rethink their monthly entertainment budgets.
