Apple Drops Safari Technology Preview 249 for Developers


Apple has released the latest update for its experimental browser, Safari Technology Preview. This ongoing project allows users and developers to test new features that the company plans to introduce in future public releases of the standard Safari browser. Version 249 brings a wide range of tweaks aimed at improving overall stability and performance.

The newly released update packs a long list of improvements across various browser components. According to Apple, version 249 includes bug fixes and updates for Accessibility, Animations, CSS, Forms, HTML, JavaScript, and Rendering. The development team has also focused on enhancing Web API, Web Audio, Web Inspector, WebAssembly, WebDriver, and WebRTC functions.

If you want to test out the changes, this current release is fully compatible with machines running macOS Tahoe and the upcoming macOS Golden Gate. Users who already have the browser installed can grab the update through the standard Software Update mechanism in System Settings.

While the experimental browser is designed primarily for developers, anyone can download it directly from the company’s website without needing a registered developer account.
