Residents of Manchester, England, may soon have a much easier way to pay for their daily commutes. Recent code discoveries suggest that Apple is actively preparing to add the region’s Bee Card to its digital Wallet application. When the feature officially launches, travelers will be able to store their transit pass directly on their digital devices rather than carrying a physical card.
You can soon tap your phone to ride trams and buses
According to backend code uncovered by MacRumors, the tech company is building the framework to support the Bee Card within its digital payment ecosystem. Once the integration is live, commuters can simply tap their iPhone or Apple Watch against the transit readers to pay their fares. This functionality will work across the Manchester area’s network of buses and trams.

Currently, many riders rely on physical Bee Cards or use standard contactless credit and debit cards to tap into the transit system. Bringing the dedicated transit card into Apple Wallet will offer users the convenience of quick access alongside their other stored payment methods and digital IDs.
While the code clearly indicates that Apple is working on the feature, it does not provide an exact timeframe for when the update will be available to the public.
