The story begins after police officers are lured into deadly traps through calls made to Sweden’s 112 emergency service. Detective Thomas Berg eventually brings his estranged father Alfred, a former detective, into the investigation as the murders become increasingly difficult to explain. There are no earlier seasons to catch up on, with Season 1 introducing and completing this case.
The investigation discovers that the killer has been using recordings from earlier victims to create fake emergency calls. Officers arrive expecting to rescue someone, only to walk directly into another planned murder. The victims are also arranged using imagery connected to Carl Larsson’s painting Midwinter Sacrifice.
Who is the 112 Killer in Blood Sacrifice?
The 112 Killer is Peter Johansson, a former police officer whose revenge started after the death of his partner, Hugo Brankovic.
Two years earlier, Peter and Hugo responded to an emergency at 1:15 a.m. Hugo entered an apartment and was attacked, while Peter remained outside and repeatedly requested backup. Help did not arrive in time, and Hugo died.
Peter later discovered that records of his calls for help had disappeared. With no evidence supporting his account, he was blamed for failing to save his partner and eventually left the police force. His anger then turned into a calculated campaign against the institution he believed had betrayed them.
Why was Peter targeting Alfred?
Peter believes Alfred played a role in covering up what happened on the night Hugo died, making him the final target of his revenge.
However, the finale reveals another important truth. Police radio operator Lucas Lind had failed to properly respond to Peter’s request for backup and later removed evidence of those communications to protect himself. Peter therefore spent years directing much of his anger toward the wrong person.
Before Thomas can stop him, Peter kidnaps Alfred and takes him back to the building where Hugo died. Alfred is badly wounded, while Thomas confronts Peter on a balcony. The fight ends with both Thomas and Peter falling from the building.
Both survive. Alfred also survives his injuries, while Peter is arrested and must now face responsibility for the murders.
Blood Sacrifice therefore closes its central murder mystery while also bringing Thomas and Alfred closer after years of resentment between them. With the 112 Killer finally identified and the case largely resolved, what did you think of Peter Johansson’s reveal and the final confrontation? Let us know in the comments.
