The MacBook Neo has been a huge success since it first arrived earlier this year. Now, early reports suggest that the company is already preparing to launch its successor. According to recent supply chain leaks, the new MacBook Neo 2 is reportedly coming out in 2027. It will feature several big hardware upgrades, including a more powerful processor, a solid boost to the memory, and some fresh color options.

Apple plans to pack a faster chip and more memory inside

Based on details shared by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is planning to overhaul the internal hardware of its budget-friendly laptop. The current model, which was released earlier this year, runs on an A18 Pro processor and includes eight gigabytes of memory. For the next generation, the company wants to step things up by using the upcoming A19 Pro chip instead.

This new processor should give the MacBook Neo a nice bump in speed and make everyday tasks feel much smoother. Alongside the better chip, the leak also notes that the base model will ship with twelve gigabytes of memory. Giving the laptop extra memory will help it handle multiple open apps and browser tabs without slowing down.

Fresh color choices are expected to join the updated hardware lineup

Beyond the hardware changes on the inside, the company also wants to change up how the laptop looks on the outside. The current version comes in four shades like silver, blush, citrus, and indigo. The report mentions that the second generation will introduce a batch of new colors to keep the design feeling modern and fun. We do not know the specific color names yet, but they will likely appeal to students and younger buyers.

Because the original laptop launched so recently, buyers will have to wait a while for these changes. The Mac maker is supposedly aiming for a release date in 2027, giving the first generation plenty of time to settle into the market. Until then, the current model remains the cheapest way to buy into the computer lineup.
