Tommy could become Sarah’s way out because he is the one local person who treats her curiosity as real rather than dangerous. Episode 3 lets him into the edges of her secret world, and his willingness to help with the vigil flyer gives Sarah a connection Henry cannot fully control.
That does not make Tommy a rescuer with a complete plan. He is still a teenager learning that something is badly wrong. What he offers Sarah is access: to information, to the outside world and to another person who notices that the story she has been given does not add up.

Sarah’s question about Mags begins with a flyer and grows into a threat to Henry’s version of her life. When she asks Tommy to help obtain another copy, she is not simply breaking a rule. She is trying to verify a memory and a name that her household has taught her not to trust.

Current Episode 3 coverage says Sarah arranges to meet Tommy at the treehouse after he helps her get closer to the flyer. That makes him important not because he knows the full mystery, but because he gives her a practical way to keep asking questions.
Henry recognizes the risk immediately
Henry’s response confirms that Tommy is not harmless to the status quo. He intercepts the plan and warns Tommy away. The move is designed to restore Sarah’s isolation, but it may have the opposite effect: an outsider who has been threatened or brushed off can become more determined to understand why.
Tommy has already shown Sarah parts of ordinary life that have been kept distant from her. That experience matters because it gives her a comparison point. Once she sees that Henry’s restrictions are not universal rules, she can start recognizing them as choices someone else has imposed.
A way out needs more than courage
Tommy’s possible role should not be romanticized. He is young, and direct defiance could put both him and Sarah at greater risk. A real escape may require adults such as Ian, Donnie or Jenna to act on what they know. Tommy’s contribution is the first crack: he helps Sarah believe that another story exists beyond the farm.
Even a brief contact with Tommy gives Sarah a reason to keep testing the boundaries of the world Henry has built around her, and that is consequential in itself.
