Some Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 owners say their new watches are restarting without warning. Reports describe the Apple logo appearing during ordinary tasks including Siri requests, Maps, workouts, phone calls, watch-face editing, and periods when the watch was idle.
Owners in a public support discussion have shared panic logs that point to an Apple Neural Engine timeout before the system forces a restart. Similar wording across several logs suggests a common failure path, but user reports cannot establish how many watches are affected.
The restarts have been reported on the original watchOS 27 build and after the day-one update. At least some users say erasing the watch and setting it up as new did not solve the problem. Apple has not acknowledged a specific Series 12 or Ultra 4 reboot issue or published a fix.

What affected owners can do
Install any available watchOS update through the Watch app on iPhone, then record when the restart occurs. Owners can find analytics data under Settings, Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements, Analytics Data. A file beginning with “panic-full” can help Apple Support identify a low-level crash.
A forced restart or full erase should not be presented as a guaranteed repair when reports say the problem can return. If a new watch restarts repeatedly, contact Apple Support while the return and warranty windows are still open.

For now, the evidence supports a limited warning about reported crashes, not a claim that every new Apple Watch has a hardware defect.
Users should back up the paired iPhone before an erase and avoid installing unofficial software. A diagnostic log can identify the crash signature, but reading one is not a substitute for Apple’s hardware and software assessment.
