The series comes from creator and writer George Kay, whose television work includes Hijack and Lupin. That background fits a premise built around pressure, shifting loyalties and a central figure who must solve a crisis while people close to him may have competing agendas.
Hugh Laurie leads an unusually strong ensemble
Laurie also serves as an executive producer. Thandiwe Newton, Fionn Whitehead, Gina McKee, Hazel Doupe, Elliott Heffernan and Stephen Dillane round out the announced principal cast. Apple has not reduced those performers to simple ally-or-enemy labels, which is useful for a crime drama whose suspense depends on uncertain loyalties.
The official first look frames Felix as a man accustomed to authority, but the title suggests that power can turn him into a target. Newton’s presence adds another formidable figure around him, while Whitehead, McKee, Doupe, Heffernan and Dillane widen the family and criminal worlds that can apply pressure.
The Wanted Man is produced by New Pictures and Observatory Pictures. Apple has confirmed the dates and cast, but it has not published a detailed episode-by-episode synopsis. Any more precise claims about betrayals or deaths should therefore wait for the episodes.
Why the January launch matters
A January premiere places the show at the start of Apple’s 2027 drama slate and gives its central mystery seven weeks to unfold. The weekly plan also leaves room for each reversal to land instead of allowing the whole conspiracy to be resolved in one weekend.
