Goyo turns the investigation back on Escobedo
The finale confirms that the Executioner case is not separate from the violence of 1968. Goyo targets people connected to that buried crime, and Escobedo becomes the clearest link between the old order and the present murders. When Escobedo offers other corrupt officers to save himself, the scene shows how quickly institutional loyalty collapses under pressure. That does not make Goyo a lawful avenger. His method has created another chain of victims, and the discovery that his wife assisted with the injections removes the possibility that he acted entirely alone. The Azules have to stop the violence even when they understand the injustice that produced it.The Azules solve the case, not the whole system
Apple’s official synopsis says the four officers race to connect the dots before the Executioner strikes again. They do make those connections in time, but the ending deliberately separates solving the immediate case from cleaning up the police. Escobedo’s exposure is accountability, not a complete institutional reset. That distinction is why the ending lands as more than a conventional arrest. Throughout the season, the women have been asked to serve a force that often dismisses them while also investigating crimes committed or protected by powerful men inside that force. Their success proves their value without erasing that contradiction. The new office is a victory with limits
The Azules end the season with recognition and an office on the main floor. It is a visible promotion from being treated as a publicity experiment, and it gives the unit a stronger position if the story continues. Still, the final image is not proof that prejudice or corruption has disappeared. The women have gained space because they forced the department to acknowledge results it could not ignore. Their next challenge would be deciding how to use that space without becoming part of the structure they exposed. The Executioner is stopped, but the system that helped create him remains the finale’s unresolved threat. Did “Goyo” give the Azules a satisfying victory?
