Video editors might be getting a major software upgrade very soon. A recent accidental leak on YouTube just gave the world an early look at what Apple has planned for Final Cut Pro 13. While the company has not officially announced the update yet, the leaked details point to some highly requested tools and improvements that will make editing video much easier for everyone involved in the process.

New tools and animation controls expected in the upcoming update

A content creator accidentally posted a video showing off the new software version before quickly taking it down. Thankfully, quick viewers managed to save the chapter markers from the video. These markers reveal several big additions coming to the popular editing app on your Mac.

  • A natural motion blur tool to make movements look better
  • Improved image editing back and forth with Pixelmator
  • Brand new pinch to zoom capabilities and updated viewer controls
  • The ability to easily disconnect clips from one another
  • Expanded language options for automatic video transcriptions
  • New keyframe easing options for smoother animations

These animation tools suggest that editors will gain much better control over how objects move in their scenes. This software update might launch later this year alongside new hardware releases. Many people expect the company to show off this software right next to a new touchscreen MacBook Pro equipped with an OLED screen.

This leak comes just days after the company pushed out a smaller update to its mobile camera app. That recent release brought special cinematic mode features specifically designed for the iPhone 18 Pro. Now, it looks like desktop users will have plenty of new toys to play with in the editing room as well.
